Case study
Retail and B2B gym sales across five regions for a fitness equipment brand
One Adobe Commerce platform selling fitness equipment to home users and gyms in the US, UK, Germany and the Nordics, with a custom inventory layer on MSI, Mainfreight and Dynamics 365 integrations and B2B ordering for clubs.
- Client
- Global fitness brand
- Region
- US, UK, Germany and Nordics
- Platform
- Adobe Commerce Cloud
01
Problem
The brand sells its equipment to two very different customers: people training at home and the gyms (clubs) that run its classes. Clubs need quotes, purchase orders and credit terms, and every region has its own currency, tax, warehouse and shipping partner.
02
Approach
I worked on the platform for six years, building the B2B features for clubs, a custom inventory model on top of Adobe MSI, and the integrations behind fulfilment, product feeds, the ERP and payments.
03
Outcome
Retail and club customers in five regions buy from one platform, with each region running separate retail and club websites, its own currency and its own logistics.
Highlights
- Custom inventory on MSI. An inventory layer on top of Adobe MSI for regional warehouses, including reverting stock when an order fails.
- Mainfreight. Order sync, shipping rates (cached to keep the rates API fast) and regional address handling.
- B2B for clubs. Quoting, purchase order numbers, company credit limits, club pricing and bulk import of companies and addresses.
- Dynamics 365. Orders and data synced with the ERP.
- Feedonomics. Product feeds for marketplaces and ad channels, including bundle stock.
- Braintree. Card payments, alongside ACH for US clubs.
- Checkout. Separate retail and club checkouts with scheduled delivery, purchase orders and region-specific rules.
